MORRIS PLAINS 12s TOURNAMENT
RockTwp American All-Stars
have more baseball to play
-
ROCKAWAY TWP. - There will be more baseball this summer for the Rockaway Township American 12-year-old All-Star baseball team.
The team will be playing in the eight-team Morris Plains 12s Baseball Tournament, a tournament that was created years ago to give teams eliminated from the District One Little League Tournament more summer games to play.
Each team plays four games and the outcome of those games will be used to seed all eight teams for a single-elimination competition that will determine the tournament champion.
The tournament starts Saturday, July 10, and will conclude on Friday, July 23, with a 7:30 p.m. championship game. All games will be played on the two Little League fields at the Community Park complex in Morris Plains. The quarterfinals will be held on Sunday, July 18; the semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, July 21; and the championship game will be played on Friday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m.
One of the highlights of the tournament for the players is a "Skill Competition" that will be held on Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The competition consists of events involving running, throwing and hitting.
